On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd November, The Filter project took away 4 groups of young people from across Rhondda Cynon Taff (RCT) and Merthyr Tydfil to take part in The Filter Apprentice. The groups were a mix of schools and youth organisations.
The aim of the residential was to design a smokefree sign and produce a campaign to support it. They were giving a range of tasks to help them along the way. Each group had their own youth worker to support them throughout the duration of the weekend. They then had to pitch all their ideas they gathered over the 2 days to youth workers.
Each group now has the chance to continue the work on their campaign after the residential has finished. Youth workers will continue to support them to produce their final campaign and sign which will lead them to pitch their ideas to their local councillors.
The winner will have their smokefree sign professionally made and put up in 285 areas in RCT and Merthyr Tydfil and each group member will receive a Samsung Galaxy Tablet as a thank you from The Filter team.
